WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO INTO THIS LINE OF BUSINESS?
I started out in media as I always loved magazines, then the worked moved to websites which again, I love. From media, I moved into fashion eCommerce so a media business about fashion retail seemed like a dream come true to merge the 2 worlds. Plus, I was always more excited about the business behind the brand or the product, so B2B seemed like a natural choice.
WHAT NOUGHTY MOMENT SHAPED YOU AS A PERSON?
I decided to not to continue with a drama school education, due to the fact I assumed the written work was ‘a choice’ and also, what did I care? I was going to be famous. Then I realised, you had to put the work in to get something meaningful out. So, from then on, I’ve always looked at everything as a ‘transaction’. You do this and you garner …this.
WHAT THREE LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED ALONG THE WAY?
Think before you speak. Read every email before you hit send. Try and remember, that it’s never that deep. In fashion, we used to say “It’s PR not ER”.
WHAT NOUGHTY MOMENT OF A WELL KNOWN BUSINESS OWNER,
STANDS OUT THE MOST FOR YOU?
I’m not sure it’s one business owner’s noughty moment, but all those who had an idea and kept pushing on despite the ‘nos’ they received. Steve Jobs, JK Rowling, Simon Cowell etc who’s businesses are now hugely successful.
